 General Help

Please read about the role of the ESC character in the manual.

I recommend that, if you enable the escape character [you should], then choose the default value "`" [backquote] since then there will be no [minor] conflict whatsoever with the built-in escape commands.

If "create memos on top" is checked and memo sorting is set to manual, then new memos are created at the top of the memo database.

If "fancy silk-screen..." is checked, then the search routine via the "FIND" SilkScreen button allows to use certain options as described in pedit's manual, and, in addition, it allows to search for partial words as well.

Example: ".^title" finds all memos in the current category whose first line contains the word "title".

If "white buttons..." is checked, then the buttons under the memos are displayed in white. Otherwise, they are black.

 EditView Help

If double taps are allowed, then, after each tap on a portion of the text, a small indicator shows up right above the scroll bar, and, while this indicator is active, a second tap brings up the custom selector dialog with the location of the first tap properly filled in.

If MagicText is installed, then conflict can be avoided by doing the second tap away from the first one so that MagicText would not process it, and, therefore, pedit can take care of the double tap.

100 ticks are equal to 1 second. The double tap indicator remains active for the set number of ticks after the first tap.

The "capitalization is automatic" box controls auto shifting in your memos.

The display of statistics in the title bar can also be toggled via the appropriate item in the "Options" menu, or, even simpler, by tapping the left 1/8th of the title bar. While in magiPad, the statistics are always displayed.

If the "cursor moves via 5-way..." box is checked, then 5-way left/right/up/down moves the cursor left/right/up/down.

If the "move cursor via btnSliding..." box is checked, then left/right/up/down buttonSliding the "J" button moves the cursor left/right/up/down.

 ListView Help

The "ListView" panel is functional only if your invoked the preference dialog from ListView.

The "alphabetic sort" option sorts memos alphabetically. This sort order will overwrite the current sort order.

The "manual sort" option allows manual sorting of memos by dragging them up and down the list. In order to drag, pen down on a memo and drag it to the desired order and lift up the pen.

The "Edited/Visited memos move to top/move to bottom" option allows reverse and forward chronological ordering of edited/visited memos.

The "new" option means that if you enter a character, then a new memo starts whose first letter is the given character.

The "seek" option means that if you enter a character, then the table of contents scrolls to the first memo whose title starts with the given character.

The "direct" option means that you don't need to use the ESC key mechanism and entering the appropriate character activates your commands.

If "! starts read only..." is checked, then every memo whose category name starts with "!" becomes read-only, that is, uneditable.

 myNotes Help

If "category of..." is checked, then the category of "myNotes" remains fixed. Otherwise, it always changes to the current category.

If "date stamped..." is checked, then "myNotes" date stamps every new entry.

If "top starting..." is checked, then "myNotes" places every new entry in the beginning of the file.

Please read about the role of the ".myNotesrc" pScript in the manual.

 Options Help

The "ignore case..." check box is for the "F" and "G" buttons.

The "linefeed..." check box is for the "Visibilator" command in the "Opt" menu.

The "search is..." check box is for for the "F" and "G" buttons.

The "words are..." check box is for for the "S" and "J" buttons and for the "Move.." menu command. Words are "Forth style" if they are separated by whitespaces [see the manual] only and not by punctuation signs, and so forth.

 In addition...

D = toggle on/off DIA support [only in peditPro and if Palm has DIA]

 Mode Help

Left-handed users have the scroll bars on the left-hand-side of the screen.

Unless you know what you are doing, you should always stay in "normal mode".

Please read about "advanced mode" and "expert mode" in the manual.

If your pScript left a dangling globalMacroMode, then you can get rid of it by using the "turn off globalMacroMode" button which is only visible when appropriate.
